Miss Dorothy Jewell Ward, age 90, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday November 22, 2014 at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida after an extended illness.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday November 25, 2014 at the Dothan City Cemetery with Reverend Van Clack officiating and Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at the Glover Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o Heritage Baptist Church, 1951 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL. 36303.

Miss Ward was born on May 19, 1924 in Dothan the daughter of Vance and Jewell Lee Thames Ward. She retired as office manager with Dothan Buick after 35 years of service. Miss Ward was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church; she taught Sunday School for 72 years and she attended Rose Hill Senior Center. Miss Ward was a lifelong resident of Dothan and was a 1942 graduate of Dothan High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving family members are: Jo Carol & Bobby Elliott, Dothan; Emily & Greg Bass, Dylan, Alex, Josh and Kenzie Bass, all of Dothan; Chad & Stephanie Elliott, Michael, Nicholas, and Lucas Elliott, all of Alta Loma, Ca.; Carolyn Driggers, Dothan; Sherrill Holloman, Andrea, David & Steve Holloman, all of Columbia.
