Life Story for Raymond Edwin Hard

Raymond Edwin  Hard
Mr. Raymond Edwin Hard, age 86, a resident of Cottonwood died Thursday July 30, 2015 at the SAMC after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday August 2, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood with the Reverend’s John Y. Chance and Karl Hudson officiating. Burial will follow with U.S. Air Force Honors at the Cottonwood City Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends at Glover Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, Al. 36111.

Mr. Hard was born on March 5, 1929 in Altoona, Pennsylvania the son of William Edgar Hard and Nellie Mae Taylor Hard. Mr. Hard served in the U.S. Navy 7 years and retired as a Tech Sgt. with the U.S. Air Force after 13 years of service. Following his military career he worked as an operator with Enron for 13 years. Mr. Hard loved woodworking and was a master gardener. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood and served as a deacon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Joseph Elwood Hard and William Edgar Hard, Jr.

Survivors include: wife of 65 years, Christine Hall Hard, Cottonwood; three sons, Gary W. Hard, Pensacola, Fl.; Edwin Hard (Chris), Hurley, Ms.; Steve Hard, Cottonwood; 3 grandsons, Shane Hard, Jeremy Hard and Hank Hard; 1 great-grandson, Anders Austin Hard; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Elizabeth Dazey, Milton, Fl.; brother, Charles Edward Hard, Pensacola, Fl.; a sister-in-law, Estelle Hard, Dothan;

Pallbearers will be: Shane Hard, Jeremy Hard, Hank Hard, Charles Exum, Mitchell Sellers, Doyle Sellers, and Jeff Sellers.
