Mr. Donnie Gene Blackburn, age 57, a resident of Taylor, Alabama died Friday August 4, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Blackburn’s wishes were to be cremated and a family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Blackburn was born on August 25, 1959 in Hayti, Missouri. He had been a resident of Taylor for the past 11 years moving from Newton. Mr. Blackburn was an Army veteran and a journeyman roofer. He established a very successful company Blackburn & Sons Construction, LLC for 22 years before becoming disabled. He was a Great Father, Great Brother, Great Uncle, Great Friend, Great Man and a Great Grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Louise Ross Hawkins.
Survivors include: 3 daughters, Brittany Nicole Smith (Jeremy), Chipley, FL.; Wendee Honey Logue (Joe), Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Jenny Rene Fogelsanger (Will), West Virginia; 2 sons, Matthew Adam Blackburn (Jennifer), Ft. Wayne, IN.; Michael Gene Blackburn, Taylor; 6 grandchildren, Jesalyn Blackburn, Gideon Blackburn, Calyssa Blackburn, Marley Jane Blackburn, Isabella Spurlock and Elijah Smith; 4 sisters, Debra Blackburn, Huntsville; Marie Hawkins, Hueytown; Lisa Hawkins, Daleville; Linda Pouncey (Rickey), Clayhatchee; 3 brothers, Gary Blackburn, Orlando, FL.; David Hawkins (Janet), Hueytown; Larry Hawkins, Clayhatchee.
