Life Story for Francis "Gene" Grace Jr.

Mr. Francis “Gene” Grace, Jr., age 88, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday morning, July 11, 2017, at Flowers Hospital.
Graveside services will be on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Cottonwood City Cemetery with Reverend Tony Hughes officiating and Kendall Glover directing.
Family will receive friends at Glover Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the graveside services. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Ft. Gaines United Methodist Church, 120 Commerce Street W., Ft. Gaines, GA, 39851.
Mr. Grace was born July 10, 1929 in Cottonwood, AL, the son of the late Francis Eugene and Mildred Tucker Grace. Mr. Grace graduated from Cottonwood High School and attended Auburn University. He worked in the peanut industry all his life. Mr. Grace began his career in the peanut industry as a bookkeeper with his Uncle Earl Grace in Cottonwood. He worked for 8 years at Goldkist in Graceville, FL. and he retired, after 17 years, from the Mars Candy Company in Albany, GA as the purchasing director. Mr. Grace was a veteran of the Navy having served aboard the USS Manchester and was a WWII veteran. Mr. Grace was a member of Ft. Gaines United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Nellie Jean Hughes Grace, three daughters, Charlotte (Doyle) Taylor of Albany, GA; Kay Grace of Atlanta, GA and Carol Wilbourn of Pensacola, FL; one sister Dannye Skipper of Dothan; one sister-in-law Starr (Raymond) Whitehead of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; one brother-in-law Reverend Tony (Beth) Hughes of Clanton, AL; eight grandchildren Christopher Taylor of Albany, GA; Kristen Taylor, Candler, NC; Kylee (Ira) Simons of Tallahassee, FL; Leigh Ann (Chase) Northcutt of Atlanta, GA; Clay (Allyson) Williams of Dothan; Scott (Elizabeth) Williams of Atlanta, GA; Jessica Wilbourn of Pensacola, FL and Tanner Wilbourn of Pensacola, FL; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Clay Williams, Scott Williams, Tanner Wilbourn, Ira Simons, Chase Northcutt, Chris Taylor, Trent Hughes, Tony Hughes and Chuck Whitehead.
