Life Story for Janet McPhaul Middlebrooks

Janet McPhaul Middlebrooks, age 77, a resident of Marietta, GA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 following a brief illness.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time), Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel, 1468 Hartford Highway, Dothan, AL, 36301, with Pastor Troy West officiating.

The family will receive friends at Glover Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The Atlanta Opera, 1575 Northside Drive, N.W., Atlanta, GA, 30318.

Janet was born on April 14, 1940 in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Howard and Jeanette Wilkes McPhaul. She graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga, with a B.A. in music education. She was employed at Helzberg Diamonds and was an avid lover of the arts, especially the opera. One of her favorite performances was playing the role of “Bloody Mary” from the musical South Pacific. She was a member of the Pensacola Chamber Opera and performed in a number of operas and operettas.

Survivors include her son, James (Jay) Middlebrooks, III, (Milinda), Milan, IN; her daughter Elizabeth (Liz) Woodard, Dothan, AL; her sister Nancy McPhaul, Saratoga Springs, NY; two grandchildren, Brian Patrick Golden of Troy, AL and Malisa Middlebrooks of Milwaukee, WI.

The Family would like to thank the staff of Flowers Hospital, Kindred at Home, and especially the staff of Home Instead Senior Care for the compassionate care they provided to our mother.
