Life Story for Mark Howell

Mr. Mark Howell, age 65, a resident of Dothan, AL passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southside Baptist Church Media Library, 423 E. Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL, 36301.

Mark was born June 18, 1951 in Dothan at Moody Hospital. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was co-teacher of his Men’s Sunday School Class. He had a love for helping people with his dedication to the Dothan Fire Department for 20 years where he was former Assistant Fire Chief. Mark also worked at Pilcher’s Ambulance Service for numerous years with a selfless love to serve others. Mark was one of the first of five paramedics to serve in Dothan, Alabama. Mark loved fishing, hunting and watching God’s beautiful creation.

He is preceded in death by his loving father, Chalker Howell.

Survivors include his mother, Mattie Howell, whom he loved so dearly; his sister Adelia (Andy) Burke; a niece Hannah Burke; extended family Linda and Bobby Thomas, Cornelia (John) Turrittin, numerous cousins and a special cousin, Tami Floyd.

The family would like to express “thank you” to a host of family and friends, Dr. Walter F. Doty, III, at Dothan Medical Associates, Flowers Hospital staff on the 3rd floor, Southern Care Hospice, Mark’s special friends at Dothan Fire Department, Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams, Phoebe Fowler, Andy and Ann Barfield, Shirley and Joe Gouge, Gloria and Harold White, Ray and Martha Howell, Dr. Carl Barlow, Steve and Brenda Hatcher, Nancy and Danny Hornsby, Tommy and Joy McKibben, Rhonda Grandstaff, Mary Lou Easterling, Frances Bailey, Frances and Hal Barnes, Brooke Sellers, Mildred and Alfred Nall, Cecelia Godwin, Annie Lou Mendheim, Susan Crawford, Stephen Kelley, Pam Colarusso, Betty Strickland, Tony and Pam Strickland, Donald Hicks and Maryjane Emerson.

The family expresses thanks and appreciation for everyone’s kindness, compassion, visits, food and prayers during this time. Mark’s last words would be to everyone, “Do you know the Lord as your Savior?”
