Life Story for William Gwen Glover

Mr. William Gwen Glover, age 83 died Monday, March 6, 2017, at his residence in Dothan.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Griggs and Mr. Pete Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Newton, Alabama, with Kendall Glover directing.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Glover Funeral Home.

Mr. Glover was born on March 25, 1933 in Pinckard, Alabama, the son of William Stafford and Claudie Mae Glover. He graduated from Slocomb High School. Mr. Glover was a peanut farmer for many years. He retired after 39 as a technical aircraft inspector for the aviation industry. During that time he worked at Dyn-Corp, Northrup, Hayes Aircraft and Sikorsky Aircraft. After his retirement, he worked at PEMCO at the Dothan Airport. He was the oldest employee working at PEMCO. He left PEMCO in 2010, when his wife, Grace, became ill; they moved into Dothan where they could be close to her doctors and the hospital. Mr. Glover loved his family and his longtime church, Bethel Baptist, where he was a deacon, his work and his farming. Mr. Glover loved music and played a variety of instruments, the upright bass and the steel guitar being the primary instruments. Mr. Glover served in the Air Force for 8 years.
Mr. Glover was a “people person”. He never met a stranger. He was a story teller and always had kind words of wisdom for his family and his friends.

Mr. Glover was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nelma Grace Glover; one brother Roger Glover and one sister Janice McKnight.

Survivors include his son Gary Glover (Elizabeth) of Enterprise; his daughter Gale Munro (John) of Baytown, Texas; two brothers Reginald Glover (Deborah) and Randall Glover (Sybil) of Wicksburg; three sisters Glenda Wheeless (Marvin) of Wicksburg, Claudia Strickland (Wesley) of Wicksburg, and Doris Maddox (Wayne) of Dothan; a sister-in-law Frances Glover of Midland City; three grandchildren Kristin Cooper (Robert), Ryan Munro (Tyler) and Logan Glover; three great-grandchildren Matthew Cooper, Noah Cooper and Grayson Munro; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver Kay Howell of Dothan; and a special little dog, Skittles.

Pallbearers will be Slade Glover, Jarrad Glover, Ryan Munro, Logan Glover, Jonathan Wheeless, Jason Strickland, Charles Hanners and Timothy Alley.
