Life Story for Major Edward Bertram Ledford

Major Edward Bertram Ledford, U.S. Army Retired, age 91, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday July 26, 2016 at Flowers Hospital after an extended illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday July 30, 2016 at the Westgate Church of Christ with Minister Chris Jones officiating and Dr. Ed Ledford, Jr. delivering the Eulogy.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL. 32256.

Major Ledford was born on August 13, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri. He attended San Francisco High School and received his Masters Degree in English & Literature from Cal State Fullerton. Major Ledford retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He retired as a teacher after 20 years having taught at Norta Vista High School for 4 years and Riverside City College for 16 years. Major Ledford was a member of Westgate Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Wilma Kathleen Ledford and infant daughter, Linda Ledford.

Survivors include: Wife, Joan Ledford, Dothan; 2 sons, Dr. Edward B. Ledford, Jr., Houston, Tx.; Daniel Curtis Ledford (Karen), Dothan; 5 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren.
