Life Story for Ethel Dupree Parrish

Mrs. Ethel Dupree Parrish, age 93, a resident of Ashford, died Thursday July 21, 2016 at the SAMC after a brief illness.

The family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday July 23, 2016 at the Watermark Church in Ashford. Graveside Services will follow at the Ashford City Cemetery with Rev. Alan Fowler officiating and Kendall Glover directing.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Ashford Rescue Squad, 305 Midland Street, Ashford, AL. 36312.

Mrs. Parrish was born on April 11, 1923 in Ashford the daughter of Lewis and Bera Dupree. She grew up in the Enterprise Church Community near Ashford and was a 1942 graduate of Ashford High School and then attended Frazier-Ellis Nursing School and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse. After working in several areas of Nursing, she was owner of Sally-Kaye Flower and Gift Shop. Here she was able to use her talents as a Floral Arranger and Designer to become a successful businesswoman. Upon retirement she enjoyed many interests including sewing, ceramics, gardening and Baking. She was known to many as “The Cake Lady”. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Parrish was a member of Grandview Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashford for 61 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years, Charles Parrish; a brother, Archie Dupree and a sister, Pauline Hollis Anglin.

Survivors include: 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Phil & Paula Parrish; Dr. Tyrone and Donna Parrish; granddaughter, Julie Parrish, grandsons and wives, Charles Parrish (Jess), Clay Parrish (Evan), Russ Parrish (CJ); great-grandchildren, River, Reed and Rush Parrish; Wilson, Ally, Millie and Townes Parrish; a brother, Charles Dupree; several nieces & nephews; also a very special friend and neighbor, Elrena Rice.

The family is very grateful for the compassionate care of Dr. Doty and Dr. Aliabadi.
