Life Story for Thomas Roy "Tom" Jones


Mr. Thomas (Tom) Ray Jones, age 69, a resident of Dothan, died peacefully Monday June 6, 2016 at his residence after an extended battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday June 9, 2016 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends at Bethel Baptist Church on Thursday from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Jones was born on February 12, 1947 in Bloomington, Illinois the son of Thomas Roy Jones and Frances Loretta Boitnott Jones. He attended the Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida and he retired as a service & sales representative with Pitney Bowes after 25 years of dedicated service. He then went into business for himself as JMS and for the past several years was employed with Accurate Control Equipment, Inc. out of Fairhope, Al. until the time of his death. Mr. Jones was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for the past 19 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include: wife of 42 years, Linda Romano Jones, Dothan; daughter, Tiffani Peters (Danny), Dothan; 2 sons, Brian Knotts, Dothan and Jason Jones (Kim), Dothan; father, Thomas Roy Jones, Pensacola, FL.; 3 sisters, Linda Sullivan, Atmore; Sheila Donalson (Greg), Pensacola, FL.; Freida Nichols, Pensacola, FL.; a brother, Elton Jones (Tonya), Atmore; 7 grandchildren, Andrew Peters, Emily Peters, Abigail Peters, Shelby Knotts, Tana Knotts, Taylor Jones and Cameron Jones.

Pallbearers will be: Danny Peters and Andrew Peters, Brian Knotts, Shelby Knotts, Jason Jones, Cameron Jones.

Tom was a real “Man’s man” and admired by all. A perfect example of a loving husband and father and loved by everyone that knew him. Tom Jones was a true “Man of God” who welcomed his going home to be with his Lord and Savior. You will be missed but we will reunite one day soon. We love you Tom Jones, Dad, and sweet Papa.
