Marjorie Stewart Stephenson, age 80 of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Friday July 17, 2015 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a brief illness.

A private graveside service will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Memory Hill Cemetery with Reverend Tim Willis officiating and Kendall Glover directing. The family request that friends join them Sunday from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church Fellowship Hall for a Celebration Reception.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens, 5130 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL. 36303 or to the Music Ministry of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1231 Fortner St., Dothan, AL. 36301.

Ms. Stephenson was born on June 13, 1935 in Coffee County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry Bryan Stewart and Vannie Lee Marler Stewart; a sister, Dorothy Stewart Purdue and an infant sister.

Marjorie enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and gardening. This was apparent by her beautifully landscaped lawn and flowers. She was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a devoted member of the Encouragers Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughter, Alyson Stephenson Powell (Scott), Dothan; Granddaughters, Grace Marie Powell, Dothan; Rhaegan Christine Powell, Ashford; a grandson, James Dyllan Powell, Ashford; a brother, Dr. Donald Stewart (Janet), Florence, AL.; a special friend, Ann Shepard, Dothan.
